Across the different stages of life, Medela products go beyond form and function. They heal, nurture health, and build bonds.

Over the last 60 years, our company has been devoted to the science of making the most delicate form of care simple, intuitive, and effective.

Medela has been caring for moms and babies, patients, and healthcare professionals for so long, we’ve turned it into a science.

Michael Larsson, Chairman of the Board

Through advancing research, observing natural behavior, and listening to our customers, we turn SCIENCE into CARE nurturing health for generations.

Advancing Research

Through strong investment in scientific and clinical research centered on the anatomy of the lactating breast, infant sucking patterns and mechanics, and stem cells in mothers' milk, we support and celebrate breakthrough insights in lactation, human milk, and infant feeding.

We proudly foster research and evidence sharing to inform best practices at the annual Medela-sponsored International Breastfeeding and Lactation Symposium, since 2006.

Observing Natural Behavior

By observing infant suckling and the importance of skin-to-skin contact, we drove innovation that removed early breastfeeding barriers to help moms and babies get the strongest start. Through observing dedicated nurses care for their patients, we recognize the great importance of intuitive technology and its impact on patient care.

We care about the world around us and commit ourselves to advocacy, sustainability, and you, to build legacy that we all can be proud of.

Listening to Customers

We sit with moms while they pump at home, work, in the car, and at the airport to better understand their challenges and we talk with parents who share their goals and concerns, and express their desire for trusted information to help inform decisions for their family. We spend time with clinicians and parents in the NICU to uncover obstacles and gaps, and we listen to busy wound nurses explain how equipment should be simple and hygenic so they can focus on exceptional patient care.

The first step in caring is understanding, so we can drive meaningful change and best support our customers.
